Fall II Sign Language Classes

Level 1

These classes will introduce you to learning the alphabet, finger spelling, and basic sign vocabulary which includes colors, family signs, foods, and weather.

Winter 2018 Class Schedule

October 8 – November 26

Classes are every Monday

  •  1:00 pm- 2:30 pm
  • 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Level 2

These classes focus on expanding & retaining sign vocabulary and introduce you to various sign language systems and communication methods.

  • 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
  • 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Level 3

Class sessions are available at the recommendation of the instructor. These classes focus on words that are the same but used differently in conversation.

Meet the Instructor

Carol Robbins is the sign language instructor at the Center for Sight & Hearing. Since 1992 she has taught over 800 students how to use sign language. Carol has been deaf most of her life due to complications of spinal meningitis during her childhood. She was able to communicate by lip reading until she learned sign language at age 23. Carol teaches with a great sense of humor and takes time to make sure her students thoroughly understand the various signs.

Registration Information

$75 for 8-week session

  • Supplemental learning book available on the first day of class
  • Classes intended to be conversational & do not count for college credit
  • Children under the age of 17 must have instructor permission
